BlazeHunter: the Brazilian heir to space games
How a handful of stubborn Brazilians decided, once again, to cut through the vacuum of space in epic battles — no suit, no tie, plenty of coffee.
Hey there, young pilot. If in the popular imagination Brazil only exports football, carnival and soap operas, you're mistaken. There's a little-known chapter of our digital history: the day Brazilians dared to build entire universes in outer space. Do you remember Taikodom? That space MMO from Santa Catarina that ran — believe it or not — inside an IBM mainframe, the same kind of machine that processes bank transactions? Exactly. It lasted five years, left thousands of players missing it, and proved one thing: Brazil really can make spaceship games.
Taikodom went dark in 2015. But the flame didn't — and it lives on in BlazeHunter.
🚀 So what is BlazeHunter, exactly?
BlazeHunter is a tactical space combat simulator, indie and Brazilian, currently in open development (Alpha). No cinematic renders fooling the player: what exists already runs for real, and grows with every update, followed live by the community on Discord.
This isn't the arcade "point and shoot". Here, positioning, field reading and energy management decide who comes out of combat alive. It's the kind of game where the wrong ship at the wrong time becomes wreckage — but the right maneuver makes you a legend.
🪐 The Phylon Sector and the two nations
The setting lives in the Phylon Sector, and the pilot's first big decision is permanent: swearing loyalty to one of the two powers.
- Vorkath Empire — "Order through strength". Offensive doctrine, heavy assault squadrons, commanded by Warlord Krieg Vorn.
- Astra Federation — "Freedom above all". A coalition of free colonies and independent pilots, under Admiral Sera Lyanne.
It's not decoration: your faction changes your bonuses, your playstyle and your place in the war. And, unlike back in Taikodom, here you don't need a mainframe to pick a side — you need courage.
🛰️ Ships, classes and pilots
The arsenal is designed from the start for tactical, team-based play: from the agile RTS-56 (light recon fighter) to the brutal RTS-75 (heavy assault fighter), plus Drakos, Karham, Scavenger and the C-50 dropship. Each ship has its own identity — no reskins.
And there are the combat classes, each for a different way to win:
- Ignis Viper — the agile class: engage and retreat before the enemy reacts.
- Hellfire Colossus — the fortress: firepower and armor through brute force.
- Ember Titan — the balanced one: consistency in any situation.
And there's more: the adventure doesn't end in the cockpit. You land on a planet and step out of the ship, exploring the ground with your character — like Comet Rhea and Nyx Sable.
🪙 An economy you earn, not buy
Every good space universe has an economy — Taikodom had its own, managed in real time. BlazeHunter is building BlazeCoin, a currency you forge in combat, not with a credit card:
Each kill becomes a medal (a unique record); each medal yields fragments; and accumulated fragments turn into BlazeCoin. Pilot merit, not wallet size. The currency's own page is on the way at blazecoin.space.

🧠 The legacy that continues
Taikodom proved that serious space games could be made in Brazil. EVE Online, abroad, showed how deep a player-driven economy can go. BlazeHunter draws from both sources — but with a different DNA: built in public, honest about what it is, and shaped by the feedback of those who play.
We don't promise inflated numbers or ghost servers. We promise just one thing: if you join now, in the Alpha, your opinion changes the direction of the game. You're not just a player — you're part of the development crew.
Ready to fly?
Alpha access is free and released on the official Discord. See you in the vacuum, pilot. 🫡
